Xi'an Silk Road ETFE Membrane Structure Landmark Tower

The architectural symbol is the iconic Möbius strip shape at the top of the tower which not only symbolizes the eternal circulation of Silk Road trade but also implies the boundless possibilities of dialogue between Eastern and Western civilizations. As visitors walk around the tower, they will find that each angle presents a different spatial expression, creating a dynamic visual experience akin to the ever-changing scenery along the ancient Silk Road.

The project has significant architectural engineering challenges: The top of the tower features a Möbius ring formed by 6 planar trusses intersecting with skewed trusses, creating a unique design. After extensive discussions, it was decided to adopt a "Lego-style" approach—assembling the entire membrane structure on the ground before installing it in high places using a clothesline-style temporary support frame. The installation of the ETFE membrane structure covered by the skirt and streamers requires high precision and difficulty.

Faced with numerous challenges,Wanhao remained calm and managed the project through meticulous management, repeated technical briefings, and control over details, overcoming difficulties and delivering a perfect result, allowing this "steel-membrane art" building structure to be beautifully presented. 

The most unforgettable is the nighttime light show, where the rhythm of the music synchronizes with the changes in the lights, giving the entire tower a breath-like rhythm, perfectly blending the openness and inclusiveness of Silk Road culture with the precise control of modern technology. This "Tower of Love," which integrates the essence of Silk Road culture with contemporary architectural technology, not only redefines Xi'an's urban skyline but also tells the world a modern fable about connection, eternity, and beauty with its unique ETFE membrane structure language.
